It Makes You Strong!

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
Every single one of us is created in God’s image. With specific gifts and talents to be used to serve others, to further the Kingdom of God. He gave you your brain and your business savvy. Seeking Him for kingdom direction at work and at home doesn’t make you weak. It makes you strong!
God desires us to seek Him. This weekend while hiking the beautiful Smoky Mountains I was pondering this directive. How does God want us to seek Him? And when? This particular 15-mile hike takes many hours, and listening to my favorite worship artist (Misty Edwards) was definitely drawing me to the heart of God as I climbed with determination. I’ve found that when I set my heart and my mind to hearing the Lord’s voice, He shows up every time. This weekend was no different.
The answer is simple. Just as the scripture tells us, God wants us to look at Him all the time. All the time. Seek Him all the time. Imagine in your spirit what might happen if you always had your eyes on God. Would you be able to sin? Would you make mistakes or take wrong turns? If we seek God’s direction in everything we do, and we listen with discernment for the prompting of the Holy Spirit, will we hear His voice?
In a world of discourse and unrest, what a comfort to know that the Creator of the Universe wants to advise us! All we have to do is seek Him. In everything we do. Oh, Lord when I wake in the morning make my first thoughts of You, and when my head touches the pillow at night, make my last thoughts of You!
I used to imagine Jesus standing in the distance as I prayed. Now in my spirit I picture that I am kneeling at His feet as He sits on the throne, and I look in His eyes to gain His knowledge and direction in all things. In return He guides me, and makes me wise, compassionate, humble, and strong.
Dare to seek the Lord first in everything you do. In your faithfulness you will find you are made for great things, and that you are not alone.
